READINGS:

1 R : 1 SAM 18  : 6- 9, 19 : 1 - 7
Ps 55 : 2 - 3, 9 - 10 ab, 10 c - 11, 12- 13.
Gos : MK 3 : 7- 12.

From the gospel we draw two lessons:

1. Jesus ministry is expansive and at the same time is inclusive,
The sea or lake of Galilee had thriving townships in her banks.st. Mark says that people came from these towns as well as Jerusalem and even from tyre and Sidon.

The same Jesus calls you and me towards him.

2. Jesus forbids the evil spirits from spreading that he is the man/ son of god.  Why ?

Because Galilee was a hot bed of revolution. Jesus did not think of such political ways to achieve salvation.
He had acute sense of history. He also could assess the political and social under currents. He also knew the inner stirrings of the heart.

Isn’t it proper that, we surrender to him completely?

The first reading speaks of Saul’s jealousy.
Actually Saul should have been happy that David killed goliath and saved the nation.

But ah! The human nature. It is wicked and sinful at its very root and depth.

Therefore everyone needs to examine oneself.
