Dec.8: The Feast of Mary’s Immaculate Conception was celebrated at 6.30 a.m.on December 8th, 2010 at Morning Star Convent Chapel which is situated near Paper Mill on the Moodbidri- BC. Road, 2 Km away from the Corpus Christi Church – Moodbidri. It is a congregation of Helpers of Mount Rosary Convent. Morning Star convent is headed by Rev. Sr. Jacintha Pinto. Rev. Sr. Felcita and Priya are the other two residents.
The Chapel Altar was decorated with golden colour sheets, fresh flowers and the Chapel was shining with the divine brightness of Mary’s Immaculate Conception. The sisters invited parishioners and friends for the celebration. Rev. Fr. Arun D’mello celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Sacrifice of the Feast day Mass. Sisters from the Alangar Convent were present for the Feast Celebration.
The Immaculate Conception refers to the condition that the Blessed Virgin Mary was free from Original Sin from the very moment of her conception in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne. On December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX officially declared the Immaculate Conception a dogma of the Church, which means that all Christians are bound to accept it as true.
Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth; break into song; sing praise- was today’s Psalm. And Mary replied to the Angel “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Let us take the message from this Gospel passage and say to God “I am your servant Lord, Let it be done in my life according Your will.
At the end of the mass, “Happy Feast Day dear sisters” was sung by the congregation attending the mass and wished the sisters a very Happy Feast.
Home prepared Breakfast, chicken curry, vegetable Kurma, Idlis & Seyos, Tea, Coffee and fruits were served. It was a feastly atmosphere.
