Sep. 7: Today is the 9th and the last day of Novena for the Nativity Feast. Mass started  at 6.45 a.m. by Our Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres.  Children carrying flowers in baskets & plates, adults in their hands  came  to honour Mother Mary.

Today’s subject for meditation : “Mary Out Mother ” and today’s intention is to pray for  “serenity to accept the things which we cannot do and  courage to change the things which we can do”.

Jesus gave His mother to us, as ‘Mother’ by telling disciple John ‘ this is your Mother’  and telling Mary “ This is your son” – So we have Mary as our Mother to take care of us and we,  her children should honour her as our mother by loving her like Mother.

Jesus said “ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ………..Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven -  the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount – So let us empty ourselves to Jesus, offer our whole to Him.  Let us understand the sanctity  of the cross,  carry our crosses and be happy to follow Him because the final end is not the Cross but the climax  Resurrection with the great reward in heaven.

So let us pray for Serenity to bear the cross and the courage to do the good and understand the difference between the two.

After the mass children took part in the ‘flower offering ceremony” gathering in the church veranda while singing the hymn  “Mariek Hogalsiyan”.  After the  Novena Prayer puffs were distributed.

Mary Our Mother, take care of us your children and lead us to Jesus.
