Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri celebrated Community Day on November 26, 2023, marking a momentous occasion with a series of events.
The day commenced with a majestic Eucharistic celebration featuring a celestial choir. Rev. Fr. Santosh Rodrigues, the main celebrant, and Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza led the mass. In his homily, Fr. Santosh emphasized the community as the body of Christ, urging harmony, understanding, and mutual assistance, anchored by Jesus at the center.
Following the Holy Mass, an inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of preparations for the 2025-year jubilee themed 'Pilgrims of Hope.' The event included the unveiling of the jubilee logo, symbolizing the birth of Jesus Christ. Rev. Fr. Onil elucidated the logo's significance and led the congregation in dedicated prayers.
A brief adoration to the Holy Sacrament preceded a street procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Moodbidri, symbolizing public faith and honoring Christ as the Savior and King.
Evening celebrations featured cultural programs starting at 5:30 p.m. Thirteen wards of the parish presented diverse stage programs showcasing unity, love, and community support. Parishioners enacted parables from the Holy Bible, and action songs emphasized community values.
Noteworthy contributions were recognized during the event. Keith Rebello and Roshan Sequira from Taccode parish received accolades for cleaning the surrounding area of the purchased land property near Papermill. Additionally, the ICYM golden jubilee logo was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza.
The program concluded with Fr. Onil expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the day's success. He also offered a prayer of grace over the communal meal, which was relished by all present. Mrs. Celine D’Souza and Mrs. Mabel Dcosta played the roles of comperes for the cultural program, adding to the festivities of the memorable day.
